What makes me extremely angry/sad is thinking about how many people losing jobs due to musk dumptruck will become homeless, rather quickly. Homelessness, will of course be further criminalized. This doesn’t end well for any of us.

Picture this: your empty office building that workers didn’t want to return to? No problem, convert those cubes to “homes for the homeless”. All they have to do is work and they get the whole cube free! Can’t leave it, but they get the whole cube free, right? Food will obviously be extra.

Fight it. In whatever way you can. There are lots of ways. They all matter.

They could turn malls into propaganda youth “camps”. Mandatory of course (but hey, if you send them 4 kids they’ll give you more votes!) You forget that voting almost never goes your way, but it’s always so close, right?

Sorry I woke up on the dark side. I promise this is not doomsday talk to make you hopeless. It’s the opposite, it’s real talk meant to fire you up.

Look, I studied this shit in college and they are following historical playbooks to do it. Seriously, that’s why they fuckin hate “liberal” colleges, because only the ruling class was ever supposed to learn that shit. Now a bunch of us “trash” are onto them. This is them scared. We can, should, and will continue to fight them.

Also, not gonna lie, I suppose any of my political posts are likely to put me at risk of losing my job at some point. I work for a large corporation that as of now is thankfully recommitting itself to “DEI” (for what it’s worth) but also just sent out a revised handbook with reminders about social media posts not being against company rules. As of now, I’m not aware that I’ve broken any rules, and from what I understand, I share the same values as my colleagues and my clients. However, my role is paid for by a contract funded through DHCS via CMS and everything we do is striving toward health equity for people on Medi-Cal. So when I’m talking about “those people who might lose their jobs and become homeless” I’m talking about us. Like my immediate family. Me. (for dramatic effect…)

Not to mention all of the millions of people served by the programs DHCS & CMS provide funding for. Look up programs funded by 1115 Waivers in your state. It’s those programs, among others. Kennedy would be in charge of the decisions that impact these programs. Millions of children, seniors, families, people with disabilities, mental illness, anyone who is poor. Those people will die. Like for real die. They are all, every single one of them, worth fighting for.

Fight for them. Start fighting for them now, if you haven’t already.

We are talking about programs that provide not just healthcare, but housing, mental health, peer support, food, med management, ADA compliance, respite care, health and social supports for people exiting jails and prisons, super sick kids, foster kids, homeless kids, pregnant teens, and the list goes on y’all.

If you’ve never heard of any of this, read about your state’s 1115 waiver and call your reps to let them know how you feel about your representatives letting that all get stolen from us by allowing RFK to lead CMS (or anything else, for that matter). Tell them that you won’t stand for them taking away money intended to help build up our struggling communities and make an effort to heal the historical and ongoing trauma these very systems have caused.

Thanks for coming to my soapbox.
